About Me

Design has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. My father, who was a tattoo artist, and my mother, who has a teaching degree in art, both encouraged me early on to explore my artistic side in as many ways as possible. As the technology became more widely available I found myself being drawn to the world of digital design. This led me to pursue my bachelors degree in Arts and Technology from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Although I started my career in a more generic graphic design role I have always had a strong interest in the design and implementation of UI, and also (without knowing there was a whole field dedicated to it) why certain design decisions were made and how they were being used or perceived. I’ve tried to immerse myself in all forms of design including digital media, print, animation, and 3d hoping to find where my skills would fit best. I always considered UI/UX to be more of a fascination and a hobby than an actual career field.
It wasn’t until seeing the growth of the UI/UX industry and knowing my design skills would not only transfer easily, but may even be more strongly suited for it, I decided to take the plunge and get formal training in the field. I have recently finished the first phase of my UI/UX bootcamp and have learned so much about the importance of research, and the reasoning behind design decisions, that I feel extremely excited and confident that this is the correct career choice for me. And with everything I’ve learned I find myself loving the world of UI/UX more and wondering why I waited so long to make this jump.
